Job Description:

The Data Consultant will focus on developing and selling new data solutions through a consultative approach in medium to large companies, and will work to convert a portfolio of large advertisers from the top 500 firms.  The purpose of the role is to increases the Direct Marketing share of the advertising market.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  

1)       Develop relationships and a reputation with decision makers in large advertising companies. Gain access to personal networks in the sector that can influence the use of data driven DM in their portfolio of clients. Set up strategic alliances where there is mutual value. Work with  colleagues to identify and develop data driven DM opportunities.

 

2)       Develop relationships with Data focused DM suppliers and industry bodies to understand market developments and solution options across the range of DM solutions required to optimise the customer and prospect relationship.

 

3)       Identify short and long term opportunities to provide new company data driven revenue streams. Identify market trends and opportunities to sell standardised as well as new DM products.

 

4)       Understand client needs for data driven DM solutions. On qualified leads offer consultancy expertise to explore needs in detail and explore how bespoke, as well as standardised services, can best fulfil client needs and generate new revenue streams for our client. 

 

5)       Develop individual and sector sales plans, including following up contacts and opportunities that take time to evolve.  Attach priorities to clients and service lines which potentially offer maximum revenue opportunities.  Disengage from prospects where sales opportunities do not emerge.

 

6)       Provide thought leadership on data driven DM internally and externally. Develop new solutions, propositions and products in conjunction with specialists in and outside the company which can be introduced to clients to win new revenue streams and increase the DM share of the total media spend. 

 

7)       Negotiate and close sales with end users, for contracts that provide added value and increase DM market share of the advertising market and long term value and profit for our client 

 

8)       Create and maintain clear and accurate records of customer communications and project requirements and results

 

EXPERTISE REQUIRED

  

 

  1. A successful career history within the data or DM marketplace with proven ability to generate, sell and execute profitable new data driven ideas and propositions for clients

 

  1. Very good Sales skills, with excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and written skills. Consistently demonstrates ability to influence and engage at Director level in large organisations.  Shows presence and quickly establishes rapport at director level in organisations who are very sophisticated and established in their approach in advertising. Easily relates and engages with clients’ business and personal agenda adds additional expertise to the discussions.

 

  1. Be conversant with DM techniques and solutions to manage the prospect and customer relationship, including prospect targeting, data acquisition, data sourcing, data cleansing, segmentation and analysis, cross and up-sell, loyalty techniques, campaign planning and management, response analysis, and marketing technologies.

 

  1. Very good knowledge and consistent usage of business models within presentations and proposals

 

  1. Innovative and seen as thought leader. 

 

  1. Qualifies high-level customer business and service needs to tackle larger business issues that impact on bottom line. E.g. CRM. Ensures cost of consultancy balanced against return on investment
  2. Seeks and explores multiple customer agendas (often not expressed).  Integrates information from different sources to prioritise customer needs.  .

 

  1. Strong network with external strategic influencers.  Can demonstrate track record of consistently achieving stretching targets.  Is recognised as thought leader within the direct marketing industry.

 

  1. A methodical and logical approach to projects and tasks, creating clear documentation and requirements
